Board Certification represents the highest public commitment to excellence in an area of law. It means an attorney has substantial, relevant experience in that area of law and has demonstrated and tested special competence in that area. Of the more than 100,000 licensed Texas attorneys, only 7,050 are Board Certified in one of the 27 areas of law offered for certification by the TBLS and less than 375 are certified in two or more areas of Real Estate Law.
